Amazon Jungle & Machu Picchu 10 Days 9 Nights

 

This tour Amazon Jungle & Machupicchu Trip 10 Days 9 Nights combines an adventure(Sacred Valley Cusco) and ecological(Tambopata in Madre de Dios) tour in Peru

Day 1 - Arrive –Lima
Arrive to Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) in Lima. We will co-ordinate your airport transfer with your arrival time. We include hotel the 4 Star Ramada Jarvis Lima Airport hotel to simplify you arrival, allow you a good nights sleep and facilitate your return to the airport in the morning.

Day 2 - Tambopata Jungle
Today you will catch a morning flight to Puerto Maldonado on the edge of the Tambopata National Park. On arrival deep in the Amazon Jungle, you will be taken to the Butterfly House reception lodge where you will check-in and store your excess luggage. In a motorized canoe you will navigate your way along the Madre de Dios River to the main lodge. After settling in you will have a relaxing buffet lunch.
In the afternoon your guide will take you out for your first taste of the Jungle. On a series of trails close to the lodge, you will learn about the primary and secondary rainforest and its components. Later as dusk draws in, you will sail along the Madre de Dios River, where you guide will teach you about the eco-system whilst sound  of animals, searching out the jungles nocturnal animals. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3 -Tambopata Jungle
After an early breakfast, you will set off on a hike to Lake Sandoval. On arrival you will navigate across the mirror like lake in a dug-out canoe, where you will have the chance to see the endangered giant otter, blue and yellow macaw, red howler monkey, black caiman and the paiche fish (one of the world’s largest scaled fresh water fish).
After lunch at the lodge, you will take a 30 minute ride along the river to the largest and longest tree top canopy tower in Tambopata, where hanging bridges interconnect and allow you to get up-close and personal with the wildlife hidden in the tree tops. At 91 ft. (28 m) above the ground, you can enjoy breath-taking views and have the chance to see white-throated toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, great  frigatebird, otter, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth. In the evening you will return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4 - Tambopata Jungle
After breakfast, you will take a motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to clay lick Cachuela. Early in the morning the clay lick provides an excellent opportunity to spot colourful parrots and parakeets, such as the blue-headed parrot and the cobalt-winged parakeet, stinky bird among others.
After lunch, your guide will take you to the Cocha Lake, where on a dug-out canoe you will learn to fish for native species, using the catch and release technique. Close to the lake hoatzins, a diversity of fly catchers and gray-necked woodrails are frequently spotted. You will disembark at the remains of the Fitzcarrald steam boat, where you will learn about its fascinating history in the Jungle. A night time nocturnal trek is offered after dinner.

Day 5 - Tambopata – Cusco 
After breakfast you will re-trace you route back to Puerto Maldonado, where you will take a mid-day flight to Cusco. Our ground representatives will meet you at Cusco airport, and transfer you out to the lower altitudes of the Sacred Valley, easing acclimatization. You will have the late afternoon and evening free to relax and get ready for the next exciting stage of your trip.

Day 6 – Sacred Valley
Full day private tour of the Sacred Valley including the spectacular Inca ruin at Ollantaytambo and the world famous bustling artisan market at Pisac. Lunch is included today at a hotel in Urubamba.

Day 7 – Machu Picchu
Vistadome Train to Machu Picchu and 1 hour 35 minute guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour will include visits to the Caretakers Hut, the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Tomb, the Three Windowed Temple, the main quarry and Intihuatana (the sundial). Overnight near Machu Picchu.

Day 8 – Machu Picchu
Today you will have a free day to re-visit Machu Picchu, this is your opportunity to explore some of the sights that are not included on the standard tour. We include entrance tickets to Huayna Picchu, a moderately challenging trek, where from atop you are afforded spectacular views of the Machu Picchu citadel. In the afternoon you will take the Vistadome Train back to Ollantaytambo where we will collect you and transfer you directly to your hotel in the Andean City of Cusco.

Day 9 – Cusco
The City of Cusco was the most important city in the Inca Empire, and was a city of vast wealth, with incredible buildings, beautiful palaces and gold lined temples. In the afternoon we will collect you from your hotel, and take you for a tour of Cusco and the surrounding areas. The tour includes visits to the Inca sites of Tambomachay, Q’enko, Sacsayhuaman, Koricancha and Cusco Cathedral.

Day 10 – Depart
Free morning in Cusco, afternoon flight to Lima and connect to your onward flights home.
